" Loverboy " was Billy Ocean's second single from his 1984 album, Suddenly . It was produced by Keith Diamond and reached a chart high of number 20 on the soul chart and number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and number 15 on the UK Singles Chart in February 1985. It also reached the top spot of the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in the U.S., in an extended version. The song gained a reputation in the first episode of the 1986 soap opera Casualty when nurse Charlie Fairhead drives into Holby A&E in 1986. The song also featured in the sitcom Dear John where the character Kirk St Moritz played by Peter Blake can be seen dancing to the song in a highly amusing fashion. Read more about the song
