Simone recorded the song in 1958 for her debut album, Little Girl Blue. The track remained relatively obscure until 1987, when it was used in a UK television commercial for Chanel No. 5 perfume. " Flash " is a song by British rock group Queen. Written by guitarist Brian May, " Flash " is the theme song of the 1980 film Flash Gordon. The soundtrack released to coincide with the film contained only the music composed and performed by Queen. Flash is sung as a duet between Freddie Mercury and Brian May, with Roger Taylor adding the high harmonies. May plays all of the instruments except for the rhythm section. He used an Imperial Bösendorfer Grand Piano (with 97 keys instead of 88, having an extra octave on the low range), Oberheim OBX synth (which he plays in the video) and his homemade Red Special guitar. " Hero " is a song by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey. It was released on October 19, 1993 by Columbia Records as the second single from Carey's third studio album, Music Box (1993). Originally intended for Gloria Estefan, the song was written and produced by Carey and Walter Afanasieff. While writing the song, Carey did not connect to its style or sound, therefore forfeiting it over to the soundtrack of the film of the same name. However, after being convinced to keep it, she personalized it, giving it a more pop and R&B melody, as well as changing some of the lyrics to more precisely fit her personality. " The colour-negative video featured the band raving in a rural setting with Keith dressed up in a "raver's outfit ". Other elements include the footage of satellites and ostriches. " Like a Virgin " is a song by American singer Madonna from her second album of the same name. It was released on November 6, 1984 by Sire Records, as the first single from the album. It was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly and produced by Nile Rodgers; Steinberg said that the song was inspired by his personal experiences of romance. It was chosen for Madonna by Michael Ostin of Warner Bros. Records after listening to a demo sung by Kelly. However, Rodgers initially felt that the song did not have a good enough hook and was not suitable for Madonna, but subsequently changed his opinion after the hook was stuck in his mind. "Let's Stay Together" was later covered by Tina Turner, her second collaboration with the British Heaven 17/B.E.F. production team after " Ball of Confusion " in 1982, and served as her comeback single in late 1983, charting at #26 on the US Hot 100. It placed #6 in the UK (one place higher than Al Green's original) and became the third time she reached the UK top ten, the first two being with former husband Ike Turner on " River Deep, Mountain High " and "Nutbush City Limits ". Tina Turner's version also hit #1 on the US Dance Chart. At the time, the song was the most successful solo single she had released and it was included on her multi-platinum selling album Private Dancer, released a few months later in the spring of 1984. It was released on November 6, 1990 by Sire Records, as the first single from the compilation. The song was written by Lenny Kravitz and Ingrid Chavez, with additional lyrics by Madonna. Chavez, however was not credited the song, which led to a lawsuit towards Kravitz. Chavez received an out-of-court settlement including a writer credit. The song was unique in that Madonna's vocals are primarily spoken and whispered, but almost never sung, a style which she later utilized frequently on her following album Erotica (1992).
