Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting (1974)

" Kung Fu Fighting " is a disco song by Carl Douglas, with production by Biddu. It was released as a single in 1974 on the cusp of a chopsocky film craze and rose to the top of the British, Australian and American charts, in addition to reaching the top of the Soul Singles chart. It received a Gold certification from the RIAA in 1974 and popularized disco music. It eventually went on to sell eleven million records worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time. In 1990, Robert Palmer and UB40 released a cover version of the song (Bob Dylan original). It was released as a single in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe. It appears on Robert Palmer's albums Don't Explain and on the 1995 best of The Very Best of . The song was successful, particularly in Australia, Switzerland, Netherlands and Austria where it reached the top ten on the singles charts, and also secured a number six placing in the UK.  " Venus " had been a part of Bananarama's repertoire for several years before they actually recorded it. The group's three members, Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey, and Keren Woodward, had the idea of turning the song into a dance music tune, but they were met with resistance from their producers at the time, Steve Jolley and Tony Swain.
