This version was different from the original in that it was in a more conventional, commercial reggae style and Banton added his own verses between the Campbells singing the original hook and chorus. " Down Unde r" (also known as " Land Down Under ") is a Platinum-certified single recorded by Australian new wave rock group Men at Work. In 1980, it was originally released as the B side to their first local single titled " Keypunch Operator " released before the band signed with Columbia Records. Both early songs were written by the groups co-founders, Colin Hay & Ron Strykert. The early version of " Down Under " has a slightly different tempo and arrangement than the later Columbia release. It was written and produced by Steve Kipner and David Frank, with additional writing from Pamela Sheyne. Following the recording of " Reflection " for Disney's animated film Mulan in 1998, RCA Records decided to approach Aguilera to record material for her debut album during February 1999. The song was released on June 22, 1999 by the label as the lead single from the album. " Genie in a Bottle " is a teen pop and dance-pop track which incorporates elements from R&B. Lyrically, it uses sexual references to present the theme of self-respect. The band continued to receive song placements outside of the Top 40 until, in early 1990, " Shine On " was re-released and made it all the way to number 20. " Say You, Say Me " is a song written and recorded by Lionel Richie for the film White Nights , starring Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines. Bowing at #40 on the Hot 100 on 9 November 1985, the single hit number one there and on the R&B singles charts in December 1985. It became Richie's ninth number one on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. The track is not available on the soundtrack album to the film, because Motown did not want Richie's first single since the Can't Slow Down album to appear on another record label. It finally appeared on the Dancing on the Ceiling album released in 1986. The track won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song as well.
