In 1993, British reggae band UB40 recorded the song as the first single from their 1993 album Promises and Lies . The song was released in May 1993, in the majority of countries worldwide. It eventually climbed to No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 after debuting at No. 100, and remained there for seven weeks. It was also No. 1 in the United Kingdom, UK Official Singles Chart Top 75 from 06 June 1993 - 19 June 1993, Austria, Netherlands, Sweden, Australia, and New Zealand. The song appears on the soundtrack of the movie Sliver , the trailer for Fools Rush In , and an episode of Hindsight . In the US, and on the Sliver soundtrack, the song title was listed as " Can't Help Falling in Love ," rather than what appeared on the record sleeve. The single version of the song also has a slightly different backing rhythm and melody. The song and band also appear in the 1997 film Speed 2: Cruise Control. Read more about the song

In 1990, Robert Palmer and UB40 released a cover version of the song (Bob Dylan original). It was released as a single in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe. It appears on Robert Palmer's albums Don't Explain and on the 1995 best of The Very Best of . The song was successful, particularly in Australia, Switzerland, Netherlands and Austria where it reached the top ten on the singles charts, and also secured a number six placing in the UK. A version by Al Brown, a founding member of The Paragons, served as the basis for another cover by UB40, included on their 1989 album, Labour of Love II. The song was covered by Pato Banton in 1994 who was joined by Robin and Ali Campbell of UB40. This version was different from the original in that it was in a more conventional, commercial reggae style and Banton added his own verses between the Campbells singing the original hook and chorus. UB40 made their rendition for their cover versions album Labour of Love . According to the band they were only familiar with Tony Tribe's version (apparently they didn't realise that the writer - credited simply as " Diamond " - was in fact Neil Diamond), and their version featured a lighter, reggae-style flavor compared to Diamond's somber, acoustic ballad. The UB40 version adds a toasted verse by UB40 member Astro, opening: " Red Red Wine, you make me feel so fine/You keep me rocking all of the time " — which was edited from the single that reached number one in the UK chart in August 1983, and number 34 in the U.S. in March 1984. In 1988, the song was rereleased as a single in the U.S., this time including the Astro toast, and climbed to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Read more about the song
